Nikko Jenkins is a notorious serial killer who was convicted of murdering four people in Omaha, Nebraska in 2013.
Jenkins had a history of mental illness and had been in and out of prison for various offenses. In 2013, shortly after being released from prison, he embarked on a killing spree that lasted just over a week.
His first victim was Juan Uribe-Pena, whom he shot and killed while trying to carjack his vehicle. Just a few days later, he killed Curtis Bradford and Andrea Kruger in separate incidents. Finally, on August 21, 2013, he killed businessman John J. Sweatt in a carjacking gone wrong.
Jenkins was arrested and charged with the murders shortly thereafter. During his trial, he claimed that he was acting under the influence of a "serpent god" and that he had been commanded to kill.
Despite his insanity defense, Jenkins was found guilty on all four counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. He is currently serving out his sentence at the Tecumseh State Correctional Institution in Nebraska.
The case of Nikko Jenkins garnered national attention due to the bizarre and seemingly motiveless nature of the killings. It also sparked debates about the treatment of mentally ill individuals in the criminal justice system and the need for better mental health resources.
